What young people come for

Exam stress & academic pressure

Overwhelming worry about grades, perfectionist standards that create procrastination, fear of disappointing parents or teachers.

Social anxiety

Difficulty with social situations, overthinking conversations, worry about what others think, avoidance of social events.

Low mood & motivation

Everything feels heavy or pointless, difficulty getting started with tasks, sleeping too much or too little.

Life transitions

Uncertainty about the future, pressure to make career decisions, adjusting to university or leaving home.

How I work with young people

The therapy process is the same structured CBT approach I use with adults — we identify patterns, build practical skills, and work towards clear goals. Sessions are 50 minutes and typically happen weekly.

What's different is the context. I understand academic pressures, social media impact, family dynamics, and the specific stresses of being 16–18. I've worked with students from the University of Edinburgh and Fettes College, so I'm familiar with both university-level and school-based pressures.

You're in control of your treatment. At 16+, you can consent to therapy independently. I won't share information with parents or schools without your permission, except in rare situations involving safety.

Practical information

  • Ages 16–18 — you can refer yourself directly
  • Sessions are £80 for 50 minutes, same as adult sessions
  • Currently online via secure video call
  • Confidentiality is maintained — I won't contact parents/schools without your permission
  • Flexible scheduling including early evenings
  • Payment can be handled by parents if that's easier
